My name is Sunita Galwande, I came to COGF at the age of 19 as an asst care taker for girls home. Before I came here, I was working as house maid since I was a small girl. Through one aunty I came to know about Christ and wanted to work with children those who don’t have anybody to look after them. After I came to COGF I grew in Christ stronger and changed a lot. Previously I used to get angry very quickly and because of this I had a broken relationship with my mother and my sister, but Christ has mended our relationship and I pray that they also know Him. From childhood I had a desire to study but did not get the opportunity to do so. My dream came through when I was asked to join the step-up programme where people like us who have no educational background can study. Initially it was very difficult but after 3yrs of hard work I am able to read and write. I cleared my 10th exam through NIOS and I thank God and team COGF for their support and guidance. After 10th I completed my teachers training; now I am married and continue working with COGF as teacher in their step-up programme. I want to help children like me who want to study and will continue working for the growth of His kingdom.

Ephesians 2:10 says, for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." God gave me an opportunity to work with CHILDREN OF GOD FOUNDATION for 5 years. He used me as a tool to teach the children and share Gods love. When I went to COGF for the first day, I was very anxious to know that I need to teach the children who don’t have any schooling background. We started teaching them from the basic, A-Z, 2 letter words, 3letterwords, we followed the step-up syllabus which was divided into 3 steps. After finishing this 3step module, children appeared for 10th STD examination (NIOS board). With Gods immense mercy, some of them cleared on 1st attempt, some of them in 2nd attempt and few in 3rd attempt.Then they were admitted to college for their further studies. Today I thank our God, when I see those children working in reputed institutions and glorifying our Lord. Hence, I would love to say as a Christian “Unless a life is lived for others, it is not worthwhile".

After giving my 10th board exam, I was wandering what to do next? One day I met a team member from COGF in a social seminar... I was amazed by listening to her great story, they as an organization were helping street children by providing shelter education and health care. I was very much curious to know more about their work. So, the very next day I went to their organization to see how they work. After a while I asked can I also join you for this work? ... I told them I want to do something, tell me how can I contribute? I was just 17 years old that time. They did not see my qualifications or age but saw my availability to do something for those children inneed. They gave me an opportunity to serve the children there. I was very happy, , I stared my journey with COGF in April 2010. I started teaching children... indeed I loved doing this work. It was such a great experience and a great blessing for me. Working with COGF I never felt I gave something from my side but it was always I felt I received a lot from COGF. Seeing smiles on the face of innocent children had encouraged me a lot and put more compassion in my heart to do more in life for needy children. I used to visit railway stations and teach them on platforms I could see many lives so closely. I used to get very angry and had ample of questions running in my mind about their pathetic life...But I was indeed very happy to see how COGF is working with love and passion for those children . It is very true that work is more but workers are less.
I spent 3 years of my life with them, it was heart breaking for me but I had to leave them for my further education. I still feel so much connected with COGF...My team members who are still working there often tell me about the kids and their life, how they are growing. I still feel I am a part of this organization and it is my own family. I have gained so much experience here and now I have started to see my life from a very different point of view.
I was walking out from COGF with a heavy burden in my heart for people, children who are in need and care. COGF gave me a direction to my life and I decided to do more work in life. By using my gifting and time to reach to the unreached people in our society.

I have always been a part of COGF through my Church. In November 2015 I got the opportunity to be a part time staff at COGF as Coordinator for Silver Lining, an initiative for employment of young women. I'm not sure if I managed to bring about any change in their lives, but the entire experience changed me. From looking at the circumstances in which people are living to understanding their point of views helped me grow as a person. Spending time with those women teaching them to make paper bags only made me humbler, patient and more human. Seeing the happiness on their faces after completion of one order made it all worth it. It made me realize that we all have a purpose here. It gave me a sense of direction about what I want to do once I am done with my career. The team members from COGF was a huge part of this transformation in me, and I thank them for that. Their constant encouragement and support played a major role in making me go out and do it. Also, it would have been impossible without Sunita. I thank her for always being there with me. Everyone from COGF made sure I was alright in every step. I thank God for the opportunity exactly when I needed and for always keeping my energy levels high.
